Tip If Earthquake

Experts have warned that we are indeed living in areas prone to earthquakes.
For this it is important to be aware of anything needs to be done before, during, and after the earthquake.

Here are the tips:

Before the earthquake:
- Make sure you have a fire extinguisher, red gear box, a battery-powered radio, flashlight, and extra batteries at home / in office.
- Learn first aid.
- Learn how to shut off the flow of gas, water, electricity and home / office.
- Develop a plan to determine the meeting place for your family after an earthquake occurs.
- Do not leave heavy objects on shelves that will fall due to the earthquake.
- Make sure the furniture, cabinets, and appliances hang on the wall or floor.
- Learn the emergency exit must be taken when the earthquake occurred at school or workplace.

During an earthquake:
- Keep calm! If you are indoors, stay inside. If you are outside, stay outside.
- If you are in the room, standing on a wall near the center of the building, standing near the door of the room, or crawl under heavy furniture (table). Stay away from windows and outside doors.
- If you are outdoors, move away from the power grid or any area that might have fallen. Stay away from the building to avoid the possibility of falling buildings.
- Do not directly use matches, candles, or flame. First make sure there are no gas leaks.
- If you're in the car, stop the car and stay in the car until the earthquake stops.
- Do not use the elevator because you may be stuck.

After the earthquake:
- Check yourself and others, if anyone is injured. Give first aid for anyone who needs it.
- Check the water, gas, and electrical wiring from damage. If the gas valve is damaged, try to close the valve. Check if there is a smell of gas. If you smell it, open all windows and doors, then immediately go out of that area.
- Turn on the radio. Do not use the telephone except for emergencies.
- Do not enter damaged buildings.
- Be careful when being around broken glass and debris. If you can, wear boots or sturdy shoes to keep your feet.
- Stay away from the beach. Tsunamis can sometimes arise after the ground stops shaking.
- Stay away from damaged areas.
- If you are in school or at work, follow the plan or instructions made in emergency situations.
- Be alert for aftershocks.
